Explore the Wish Wonder Playing Cards, a limited edition deck designed by Nicolaz Groll and printed by USPCC on crushed paper. This overview covers design, feel, and who it suits best.
Quick answer
The Wish Wonder Playing Cards are a premium limited edition deck that appeals to collectors and cardists who value thoughtful design and a soft touch finish.
Design and collaboration
The Wish Wonder Deck is a result of a partnership with Chad Nelson, a longtime collaborator, and designed by Nicolaz Groll. The deck features two poetic manifestos and a back design that represents an infinite network of possibilities.
The packaging is a luxurious soft touch black box pressed with tonal black foil, giving it a premium unboxing experience that collectors appreciate.
Printing and paper stock
Printed by The U.S. Playing Card Company on crushed paper, the cards have a slightly thinner, more flexible feel than standard Bicycle stock. This makes them suitable for cardistry flourishes and fans.
Crushed paper stock tends to break in faster and can show wear sooner than thicker stocks. If you prefer a stiffer, more durable deck for heavy magic routines, this may be a trade-off.
Decision rules for the Wish Wonder Deck
- Design appreciation: If you value poetic themes, tonal foil, and a soft touch box, this deck delivers a unique unboxing and visual experience.
- Cardistry suitability: Crushed paper stock makes the deck flexible and easy to fan, but it may not hold up as long under heavy practice compared to standard Bicycle stock. Expect a shorter lifespan if used daily for cardistry.
- Limited edition status: As a limited edition deck, availability may be limited. If you are a collector, consider purchasing sooner rather than later. Check current stock to avoid missing out.
