Quick answer
The ANYONE FOREVER R.03 offers a crushed finish for smooth fans and springs at a lower price, while the ANYONE x D&D SMOKE delivers a limited-edition collaboration with a distinctive smoke design and USPCC quality. Choose the R.03 for practical cardistry on a budget, or the Smoke deck for a collectible statement piece.
Finish and handling differences
The R.03 uses a Thin Crushed finish, which gives the cards a softer, more flexible feel out of the box. This finish is favored by cardists who want immediate fanning and packet cuts without breaking in the deck. The Smoke deck is printed by USPCC but its finish is not specified, so you may experience a standard air-cushion finish that requires a few sessions to reach its peak handling. If you prioritize ready-to-use performance, the R.03 has an edge.
Both decks are made in the USA, but the R.03 explicitly states its finish type, giving you a clearer expectation of handling. The Smoke deck’s finish is unconfirmed, which may be a drawback if you need predictable performance for complex cardistry routines.
Limited edition and collectibility
The R.03 is limited to 5,000 decks, making it a numbered collectible with a known scarcity. The Smoke deck is a collaboration between ANYONE and Dan & Dave, but no edition size is provided. If you are a collector who values print-run transparency, the R.03 gives you a concrete number to track. The Smoke deck’s unique smoke-themed artwork and collaboration status still make it a desirable piece for themed collections.
Price also reflects their positioning: the R.03 is priced at USD 8.68 (compared to USD 14.00), while the Smoke deck is USD 18.50 (compared to USD 25.00). The Smoke deck’s higher list price suggests a more premium presentation, but without an edition size, its long-term rarity is less certain.
